Adjustment of Status Interview
Your attorney can be present at an Adjustment of Status interview. You will need the following documents for your interview:
- Original copies of relevant civil documents, including marriage certificate, divorce decree, birth certificate of sponsor and beneficiary
- Unexpired passport of the sponsor, and a photocopy of the biographic page
- Passport of beneficiary
- Documents pertaining to any criminal history, such as original or court-certified arrest records of beneficiary
- Documents establishing a relationship between sponsor and beneficiary. These documents can include photographs of the couple, bills and bank account statements that show joint financial obligations and/or written correspondence
Consular Processing Interview
An attorney may not be present during a consular processing interview. You will need the following documents for your consular interview, and extra copies of original documents:
- The unexpired passport, and a photocopy of the biographic page of the beneficiary
- An original birth certificate
- Original civil documents, including the marriage certificate and divorce decrees, if applicable
- Certified translations of any document, if not written in either English or the language of the country where your interview takes place
- An original police certificate
- Sealed medical exam results from your physician
- The confirmation page from Form DS-260 that you submitted
- online
- A signed Affidavit of Support from your petitioner
- Financial evidence showing your petitioner’s income
- Original court and prison documents (if applicable)
- Proof of your petitioner’s status and residence
