Attorney
Kelsey is a Fulbright Scholar with diverse experience in immigration that spans nearly a decade.
Kelsey’s path to immigration law is rooted in an interest in global mobility. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Kelsey spent five years working with immigrant and refugee communities in Lincoln, Nebraska, first as a youth mentor, and finally the coordinator of all youth programs for the Asian Community and Cultural Center.
Kelsey taught English in Thailand for the Fulbright Program, concurrently producing video and multimedia content on the lives of migrant workers in Thailand for the Labor Law Clinic in Mae Sot, Thailand.
At University of Maine School of Law, Kelsey was President of the Multicultural Law Society, volunteered at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, and was a student attorney in the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic.
Advocate and Counsel
Kelsey said it was her experience traveling abroad and working at the Asian Community and Cultural Center that led to her interest in immigration law. “I loved working with migrant communities and learning about other cultures, and I wanted to develop skills that would help me better advocate for these communities,” she said.
As an attorney, Kelsey brings strong problem-solving and research skills developed through her time in project development and coordination. She said she enjoys the people-side of immigration law.
“I get to learn about a variety of professions, from manufacturing to higher education to healthcare. I am always fascinated to learn the details of our client’s professions, and how hard they work to be successful in their fields.”
In her free time, Kelsey is learning how to garden with the help of her 4-year-old Shiba Inu, Lucky. She is also an experienced video producer, having produced music videos for local musicians and NGOs in Thailand and India.
