The Strong Argument for H-2B Relief

A recent editorial in the Portland Press Herald lays out compelling reasons to increase the availability of H-2B visas. The H-2B visa program is especially useful to hospitality and agriculture employers who depend on seasonal workers. As the only viable option for seasonal workers and “non-professional” positions, employers that are shut out from the H-2B often are understaffed or, at worse, have to close operations. In Maine, where tourism and agriculture are a big part of the economy, not having this option open to the hospitality industry and the agriculture industry is a huge hit the state’s ability to grow and attract new business. FordMurray applauds the efforts of Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, who continue to advocate for increases to the popular visa program.
